Excellent Coffee, Ideal for Quick Pick-Me-Ups! Dropped by La Colombe Coffee Roasters on Elm Street in Downtown Chicago for a quick caffeine fix. The friendly service and outstanding coffee made it worth the visit. Seating could be cozier, and prices are on the higher side. However, for a swift Italian-style pick-me-up at the bar, it's hard to beat. Recommended!

La Colombe is one of my favorites in the city and I popped by this location before work to try out the new strawberry drinks. The service was extremely fast, important during my morning commute, and the cashier was personable, brightening my morning and even knowing some of the regulars. I almost wished I lived closer so I could frequent this location more regularly, that's how good my experience was. And, of course, the coffee was delicious, as always.

I usually enjoy La Colombe, but this visit was pretty frustrating. I ordered two drinks—one for me to have there, and the second to-go for a friend. I politely asked the server to wait and make the second drink after I finished my first, so it wouldn’t get cold. He nodded, said “yeah, yeah, no problem,” so I figured we were good. But surprise—the first drink they gave me was the one I wanted to take to-go. Then his coworker chimed in with, “Hey! Next time make sure to order your second drink before you leave,” which made absolutely no sense… I had already explained everything clearly. Tipped 15% for what, exactly? Just left feeling a bit unheard and confused. Hope the service improves.

The place is cozy and nice to enjoy your coffee. Unfortunately, they are very busy all the time and there are few spots to sit (only 4 tables, I believe) and always a long line outside waiting to be seated.

Cozy coffee shop in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago. Limited seating. The line starts outside. We had heard it’s a popular coffee shop and it’s been busy since we started standing in line. Friendly staff. Quaint! I did have an unfortunate experience after writing this review and discovered after enjoying our stay, I had to stand in line for a to-go order while my family waited inside. It was a 20 minute wait which I didn’t appreciate.
